The road to Landmannalaugar is F-marked (F208) and regular rental cars are prohibited from driving on it. You can drive to Árnes, park your rental car for free and join us for the journey to Landmannalaugar.

This is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Iceland (an achievement in itself!) and possibly even the world. Hiking in this land of rich and diverse geological features is truly an unforgettable experience. Another striking feature of the region are the number of rivers that traverse it. The rivers are fed from the various mini glaciers that are abundant in the area, many of them are at an ideal bathing temperature, and provide the perfect respite after a long hike!

 

From Árnes we drive to the Hjálparfoss waterfall.  From there we drive up to the highland towards Ljotipollur (Ugly pool), a crater formed during an eruption back in the 15th century.

 

At this point we head to Landmannalaugar where you can either enjoy a relaxing soak in a natural spring, or enjoy one of the many hiking trails. We then return to Árnes where you can collect your car and continue your Icelandic adventure!
